Oil and Gas Production by County

Oil and gas production by county is published by each state's oil and gas agency, and AMR has loaded it for Illinois and North Dakota so far. For every other state this lookup shows the EIA state total and notes that county data is not loaded yet.

  • State totals: EIA, released September 30, 2026
  • County data: Illinois and North Dakota only

Coverage. County figures exist only for Illinois (Illinois Department of Natural Resources, 2023 production) and North Dakota (North Dakota Industrial Commission, 2024). For every other state the county search returns nothing yet. Production in a county does not mean any particular tract produces.

Searching a county sends the state and county name to AMR’s data service at api.americanmineralregistry.com. Nothing else is sent.

Oil and Gas Production by County: coverage map with county figures loaded for Illinois and North Dakota and EIA state totals for the other producing states
County figures exist for Illinois and North Dakota only. For every other state the lookup returns EIA’s state totals, where EIA publishes a series.

How to read the results

State totals are EIA annual figures: crude in thousand barrels, marketed gas in million cubic feet. “Not published” means EIA has not released that value yet.

County figures come from the state agency named with each result, for the year shown.

For well level production and operators, use the state regulator’s own records.
