About American Mineral Registry
American Mineral Registry publishes free research on U.S. mineral rights law and data, and separately asks buyers for written offers on owners’ minerals, earning money only when a sale it arranges closes.
This page explains what each part does, how we are paid and what we are not.

What we do for owners
We ask buyers what they would pay for mineral and royalty interests in any U.S. state, make the owner a written offer that names its buyer, often American Mineral Registry itself, and leave the decision with the owner. Any sale closes through a title company, escrow agent or closing attorney.
Free for families. You never pay us a dime.
Asking for an offer costs you nothing, and there is no fee when you sell. Usually we buy the interest ourselves, and the offer says so. We may resell it, and that is how we are paid; it never changes the price you agreed.
Your money moves through a licensed title company, escrow agent or closing attorney, never through our hands. Every written offer names its buyer.
What we are not
We are not a licensed broker, a law firm, an accountant or a financial adviser, and nothing on this site is legal, tax or investment advice. American Mineral Registry is a privately run website, not a government agency, and nothing here is an official record of title.
The research, kept apart
The research library covers the law on unused minerals in every state, royalty and tax data and production by state, free to read and reuse under CC BY 4.0. Research pages carry no offers or sign up forms, and the research about page (opens in a new tab) explains how the two parts relate.
Contact
Every request, question and correction comes through a short form, reached from the contact page. We do not publish an email address, a street address or a phone number.
Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no upfront fee and you never pay us. We are paid only when a sale we arrange closes, so the process costs you nothing whether or not you accept an offer.
How do you make money, then?
Usually we buy the interest ourselves, and the offer says so; we may resell it, and that is how we are paid. That is why asking costs owners nothing.
Do I have to sell?
No. You can review the offers and walk away. Nothing about getting offers obligates you to accept one.
Who buys the minerals?
Often American Mineral Registry itself. We ask mineral and royalty buyers, often funds and operators, what they would pay, and the written offer you get names its buyer.
Is my information private?
We use what you share to respond to your request and, with your consent, to ask buyers for offers. We share the details of your interest only with buyers we approach about it, and we do not publish your details.
